He holds a degree in Economics from ISEG Lisbon School of Economics and Management at the University of Lisbon. He is an executive specialising in technology and market growth strategies, with over 18 years’ experience leading digital transformation, blockchain and smart city initiatives in companies and governments globally, having worked at leading companies such as Cisco Systems. He is CEO and co-founder of Dist.li, a start-up focused on blockchain infrastructure and the creation of developer communities. Joel is also a partner at Angularis Capital, a venture capital fund dedicated to supporting Web3 technologies. He is currently a PhD candidate in Information Technology Sciences at ISCTE-IUL, focusing on the application of blockchain in traceability and logistics. He also holds advanced certifications from IE Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, IMD and UC Berkeley. In addition, he is a visiting lecturer at IE Business School and ISCTE-IUL, teaching on topics related to smart cities, emerging technologies and blockchain.
